Holtang Ba Losar is the Losar celebration observed by Nyeshyangte (people of Manang) around the world. “Losar,” meaning “New Year” in Tibetan, marks the beginning of the lunar new year and is one of the most important cultural celebrations for our community.
Each year, Manang Samaj USA hosts a large Losar celebration that begins with the traditional “Ole” song and dance, followed by vibrant performances, delicious food, Khapse (special New Year cookies), drinks, and plenty of dancing. More than just a celebration, Holtang Ba Losar holds deep cultural and sentimental meaning—honoring the rich heritage of the Manang community and keeping our traditions alive for future generations.
Every year over Memorial Day Weekend, Manang Samaj USA hosts our Annual Mitha (Archery Festival)—a three-day celebration that brings our community together. The festival features an exciting archery tournament, camping, badminton tournament, yoga, Zumba, and fun games for both kids and adults.
With delicious food, snacks, music, and a lively DJ night, Mitha is one of the most anticipated and beloved events of the year for our members and their guests. It’s a weekend filled with friendly competition, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Every year, Manang Samaj USA hosts its Annual July 4th Picnic in a beautiful New York City park, bringing members together for a day of potluck, delicious barbecue, and fun games for all ages.
As we celebrate Independence Day, the picnic reflects Manang Samaj’s commitment to strengthening community bonds—creating a joyful space where families and friends gather, share laughter, and build lasting memories in a spirit of togetherness and goodwill.
Mani Puja is a weekly gathering held at our Samaj Ghar, offering community members a space to practice their Tibetan Buddhist traditions and come together in prayer. It’s also a meaningful time to connect, socialize, and strengthen bonds with like-minded members of our community.
